Summer Fashion: The Sweater

Think just because it's summer that sweaters are banished until fall? Unless you live in a tropical clime, not quite. It's the type of sweater that changes -- shifting from bulky cable to slim-cut cotton or cashmere, which is just right for throwing on after the sun goes down. Our advice? Forgo the boring solid neutrals and bring a little color and pattern into the picture, with a piece like this Striped LS Sweater, $19, at Heritage 1981. Looking for a more classic take? Try this silk/linen V-neck from Banana Republic, $59.50, or this Polo Ralph Lauren V-neck from Dillard's, on sale for $48.50.
