"Mad Men", AMC's very cool drama about very cool folks working at a very cool ad agency in the 1960s, is only in its second season, but the effects on fashion are already being felt. Particularly in the area of the suit. Think slim. Think two-button if possible -- though three's still okay too. And if you're ready to be fashion forward, think plaid.
Wait? Plaid? Well, yeah -- but of the subtle variety -- we're talking early to mid-60s, not late 60s-into-the-70s psychedelic. Something more in the realm of a glenplaid, for example, and the pattern should be as low-key as possible. So low-key that you can actually put a complimentary subtley striped or plaid dress shirt with it -- and top it off with a slim tie. And remember, if it doesn't fit exactly like you want it to, the tailor is your friend -- or opt for a surprisingly reasonable custom made suit at Indochino.com.
