Tips for the last minute shopper

So with a few days to christmas (or any “special” day really: Anniversary, Birthday, Valetine, etc,) you still haven’t gotten the perfect gift for your loved one? Don’t panic! Here are a few tips to keep in mind as we get closer to the big day.

1. Be Optimistic. Here’s the thing, you really haven’t worried about it too much up to this point. So don’t start worrying now. Just go ahead and start gift-hunting.

2. Keep your options open. Stay away from speciality stores unless you know that there is something there they want. It’s harder to pivot and look for something else if you come up empty at a speciality store. As much as we hate them, malls are good places to cover the most ground in the least amount of time.

2. Start from what you know. People tell you what they want all they time. You just need to listen. What have they said they’ve liked? What have they bought for themselves or for someone else lately? Do they have a wishlist on Amazon or Pinterest?

3. Ask for help. It’s okay to ask mutual friends what the object of your gift giving might like. Also, talk to your fellow shoppers, they are shopping because they are looking for last minute gifts too so it’s easy to build a bond of support with them.

4. Give them the gift reciept. Being appreciative of recieving a gift is one thing, being forced to keep a gift they don’t want is something else. Give them a gift reciept is a tackful way of saying it’s cool if they don’t like the gift and they can take it back.
