The Lowdown: He wasn’t born yesterday, but he’s suddenly everywhere. Clive Owen, of the rugged features, swarthy complexion, James Bond British clip. But besides being present, he’s become a style icon. We’re all about it.
Maybe it’s pure marketing. Maybe it’s the sudden morph into a simultaneously throwback-and-apocalyptic action hero. Maybe it’s the Bond-esque ad campaign that makes being a “face? of Lancome seem almost macho. Whatever it is, it’s working for him, and it can work for you too.
Style Statement: Classics go a long way. You’ll usually see Clive in tuxes, tailored suits, or basic trousers, with much black, white and gray, all clean lines and good fit. The tie might be loose (he’s had a hard day), but that just adds to the Bogart vibe. The bottom line? Less is more.
Get It:
The Trench: Try this Claiborne Micro Twill Trench from Macy’s, $175.
The Dress Shirt: A Joseph and Feiss non-iron French cuff style, $54.99 from Men’s Wearhouse
The Black Tie: Silk tie with stripe texture, from Bachrach’s, $49.50.

Anything I can do to help my husband give off a Clive Owen vibe is definitely on the menu. Any hints for guys with a 40” arm, Jack? Even Big & Tall catalogs sometimes can’t accomodate my 6’7” husband’s wingspan, and as budget shoppers I’d prefer to avoid custom tailored dress shirts.
As an ex footabll player, Bug Jack has 40 inch arms and wide shoulders, so finding great shirts cane be a nightmare, even for the budget fashionista. There’s actually custom made shirts that are somewhat affordable. Try the Stafford custom shirt line at Jc Penneys. Shirts cost from $45-$55 (about 50% off the price of other custom shirts). Just head to Jc Penney.com and type in stafford. you’ll be sent to a promote which allows you to pick out the type of cloth, body shape of your fella, etc.
Thanks Jack, checking Penney’s out now!
