 Ryan Gosling: Style Jack

For a guy who’s only 27, Ryan Gosling (pictured here with his mom) has managed to cultivate a surprisingly mature sense of style. Key points to consider: The skinny tie. The sweater vest. The two-button, three-piece suit. The artful beard scruff. The ironic, knowing gaze. It’s the kind of look that creates the illusion that it just kind of happened, by virtue of his innate coolness. Nice.

He’s also a guy who can pull off things most of us can’t, like a plaid three-piece suit (see this photo spread from GQ; the suit’s by Tom Ford). We’re not recommending you go down that particular fashion forward path, but we’re thinking that jacking a little of Gosling’s wry, I’m-not-trying-too-hard vibe couldn’t hurt, so we’ve picked a few items to help you along. As for the ironic, knowing gaze—you’ll just have to perfect that on your own.
