 Pants ‘n Boots: Fashion Trend

What: The New York Times documents a peculiar trend–tucking your pants or jeans into boots, in that particular meticulous, yet nonchalant way.

What we say: If you decide to try out this particular trend, beware. It’s a tricky one. The NY Times warns that you must have the perfect boot height–not too short, and not too tall. They must also be casual–the look is rustic and messy, not polished and slick. If they’re lace-ups, do leave them untied. As for the pants, they mustn’t be baggy. Your carpenter jeans from Old Navy will clearly not work. Make sure it seems as if you haphazardly left your house without caring what you looked like, or you’ll come across as too put together. We’re sure that this look could complement some guys, but trying to be something you’re not isn’t cool. If you’re still liking the preppy look spawned by Gossip Girl, then rock it with all your might. But if you’re messy already, this new trend could be for you.

Get the look:

The pants: Kill City Stretch Twill Junkie pants in navy, Urban Outfitters. $68.00.

The boots: Doc Martens, zappos.com. $130.
