Whether it’s because men like having a quick, easy alternative to visiting a hair stylist or because they’re “follicularly challenged,” it seems to be more vogue than ever to have closely-shorn locks these days—just ask Justin Timberlake, Lance Armstrong, or David Beckham.
And if you’re interested in giving that look a go yourself, or if you’re a seasoned pro always on the look out for the latest and greatest means of maintaining your buzz cut, Remington has come out with a revolutionary new set of clippers they’re calling the ShortCut.
Unlike most other clippers, the ShortCut—which retails for $29.99 for the standard set or $39.99 for a “Platinum” version—is shaped more like a hairbrush and is intended to be used as if the user is actually brushing his hair. The shape is curved and incredibly intuitive, essentially mimicking the shape of your dome, but since this is a completely foreign shape by comparison to most other clippers on the market, it may take a little getting used to. Once you’re used to it though, you’ll probably be hard pressed to go back to your old clippers ever again.
As with most other clipper sets, the ShortCut comes complete with a couple replaceable guards, an attached pop-up trimmer for the hard to reach places, and a rolling selector that helps the user cut their hair anywhere from 1/8” to a ½”. One of the replaceable guards the ShortCut comes with is called the “Balding Comb,” which supposedly allows the user to get the closest cut possible from any clipper on the market—and it works beautifully. The end result is a nice, even hair cut that looks like it was done by a professional, essentially paying for itself after just one or two uses when you consider how much hair dressers charge these days.
