Summer Plaid

by The Budget Fashionista on March 28, 2007

With the snow beginning to melt, and BBQs, Pool play dates, and sunny weekends right around the corner, my thoughts have been to spring and summer fashions.

The “It” look of the warmer seasons is definintely summer plaid.

From light colored checkered shirts to patchy madras shorts, even Chuck Taylors in birghtly colored plaid, spring has sprung.  When thinking about patterns like plaid and madras, keep in mind focusing on one patern and down playing the rest of the ensemble.

Pair a shirt like the Men’s Madras Plaid Shirt ($19.50) from Old Navy with khakis or dark jeans, not another pattern.  If you choose madras shorts, keep your shirt plain and choose a color from the pattern itself.

The same goes with plaid shoes. Keep the top and bottom simple to keep focus. Summer plaid is one way to step it up a notch without trying too hard.

Style Jack: Jude Law

Yeah, we love the scarves. Alma mater knits for cold weather, silk for summer galas. He even manages to pull off the occasional ascot.

When it comes to suits, it’s all about a snug fit for this angular Anglo. Neither dandy, nor metrosexual, Jude takes the better parts of both and rocks ‘em with rakish elegance.
